Don't Let AI Hallucinations
Ruin Your Research.

Verify your bibliography instantly or find real, claim-relevant citations with our free tool*. We cross-check every citation against 7 academic databases — and for any citation we find for you, we confirm the paper's abstract actually supports your claim, not just its title.

Paste in BibTeX, RIS, PDF, or raw text — compatible with exports from EndNote, Zotero, and Mendeley — and get results back in BibTeX, RIS, APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE, or Vancouver format, ready to re-import. Don't see your format? Paste it anyway — we'll still parse it. Now includes URL verification for web sources.

*Free accounts get 50 credits/month (1 credit per verification, 4 per citation search). Log in to get started.

What Makes AccuraCite Different

Details other citation checkers skip, because they're the hard part.

Consensus, Not First-Match

We query all 7 databases at once and look for independent agreement between them, filling in missing details from corroborating sources — instead of trusting whichever database happens to answer first.

Independent DOI Check

A matching title and author isn't enough. We separately resolve every DOI and confirm the title actually appears on the page it points to, catching stale or mismatched DOIs that metadata-only checks miss.

Honest About Limits

If we can't find a paper that genuinely supports your claim, we tell you instead of returning a loosely related one to pad the count — and we automatically refund the quota for any citation we couldn't find.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AccuraCite really free?

Yes. The Free plan requires a login (no anonymous usage) and includes 50 credits every month, no credit card required.

How do credits work?

Every plan gives you one shared pool of credits instead of separate verification and finding limits, so you can spend them on whichever you need more of. A citation verification costs 1 credit; finding a new supporting citation costs 4 credits, since it takes more work — searching for and relevance-checking a real source rather than just looking one up. See the Pricing page for per-plan credit totals.

What citation formats do you support?

Verify accepts BibTeX, RIS, plain text, or PDF (Pro), and detects citations written in APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE, or Vancouver style.

How do you catch AI-hallucinated citations?

We parse each reference, cross-check it against the academic databases above, and fuzzy-match the returned metadata against what you provided. If nothing matches closely enough, we flag it as unverified and suggest a real paper to replace it, instead of assuming it's genuine.

Do you store the documents I upload?

No. Uploaded PDFs are processed in memory and discarded once your verification job completes. We keep the verified citation metadata (title, DOI, etc.) to speed up future searches — see our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I use AccuraCite programmatically?

Yes, the Pro and Bulk Verification plans include REST API access. See the API Docs for endpoints and authentication.

Can I check multiple papers at once?

Yes — the Bulk Verification plan lets you drop up to 30 PDFs into a single scan (handy for a teacher or reviewer checking a stack of student papers at once) and get one report with a per-file breakdown of what verified.

How is AccuraCite different from other citation checkers?

Most tools check a citation against one database and stop at the first match. We query all 7 sources at once and look for independent agreement between them, separately verify that DOIs actually resolve to the right paper, and tell you (with a refund) when we can't find real support for a claim instead of padding results with a loosely related paper.
